Default Summary of Scorpion changes by Serial#

Some have asked... here is the summary of the changes between Scorpion runs.

Scorpion pumps (currently) have a 4 digit serial number.

Each "design change" (no matter how slight) increments the first digit of the number.

Thus, we have the "1000 series", the "2000 series", etc etc.

For each production run of pump heads, if a design change is made, the first number is incremented. If no design change has been made, then the serial numbers remain sequential.

1000 Series - (Initial run of 120 pumps).

2000 Series - (Run of 40 pumps). Altered initial design so that a "triple weep hole" system was put in. This was to allow a weep hole to be facing a downward direction no matter which position the pump was to be installed in. (This was in anticiapation of the VegiRam, which puts the pump on the other side, and for any DIY guys out there that had intentions of using the Scorpion for their own builds).

In addition, the 2000 series started using a sealant in the wall of the shaft seal to help alleviate a few of the leaking problems that surfaced with the 1000 series.

3000 series - (Run of 40 pumps). In this series, a beveled edge was introduced to the top edge of the shaft seal chamber, allowing easier time pressing in the seal, and helping ensure the pump head didn't damage the pump seal while being pressed into place.

4000 series - (As of May/2012, run of 40 pumps and counting). In an attempt to try to alleviate pressure issues when running thinning mixtures of fuel, the clearance between the pump gears and the mating surface was reduced by .005". This puts it inline with the FASS pump head tolerances. Since an adapter/wear plate was introduced to the Scorpion, gear strikes to the manifold by using a lower clearance are no longer a concern.
