Default Intake Foil Delete, CCV Flip and Cleaning!

ok well got up the courage to take out the intake and flip around my dog house.

First i pullled out the cross menber that holds down the radiator and intercooler and ac radiator.

Second i loosed up all the intercooler clamps and unbolter the radiator overflow tank. and liffted out the hot and cold turbo tubes.

then out with the intercooler and found that my truck has a heating plug just laying under the intercooler

Now the fun part foil delete. i used pliers to grab the foil and the insulation under it and with my other hand i held a flat screw driver and worked it back and forth in a slicing motion and the fiber of the pipe released with ease , like i was skinning a deer! used Goof Off and Acetone and a green pot scrubbing pad to remove the glue and give the pipes a brushed finish. put on a coat of aluminum polish for fun and called it good.

Cleaning everything that was in the flow of air with powder laundry detergent "works great on your hand also" in a pump up sprayer with water to clean with.
CCV flip bought a new set of o rings for the CCV from diesel o rings. made this alot easer. i slipped a 5/8 hose over the dog house end, i believe that it is 3/4 fitting but i only had 5/8 rubber coolant hose on hand. i currently just have it going about 4 feet under the truck but plan to run it into the exhaust pipe. i kept the factory adaptor that the intake goes into were the CCV perviously hooked up to and put a 3/4 rubber cap over the nipple and tightened down a hose clamp around that. put it ALL back together and fired it up!

I absolutely HATED the CCV to atmosphere. It was smokey and STUNK like a dirty old big-truck. Cool, damp mornings were the worst.

The amount of oil in the CAC system is pretty minimal and this mod is waaaaaay over-rated to 'fix' this non-problem. The oil around the boots is easily fixed with better boots and clamps.

Also, the foil was designed to help quiet the turbo noise. I spend hours and hours on the road and less noise = less fatigue.

Besides that, good work!

Oh yeah, get rid of that green coolant and switch to a quality ELC like CAT or Rotella....

I have one of these CCV filters. If I ever get the "big ol truck smell" it means I need to drain it.
It vents into the exhaust about 2 feet before the tip.

For more turbo whistle / whine.
And trust me after a few hrs. That turbo whistle gets annoying.
Ccv mod I was behind a X with one , dumps at rear bumper puffs a good bit of smoke sitting at lights.
