When I do a search for the 7.3, it sends me to the manual for 1980-1996 gas engines.

Will this book get me through most repairs?

Might check autozone online. They have uploaded most of them. Open an account and you get access. Also ive learned that most sites (here, psn. .org) have more info than you will ever need

The one on autozone is for the years previously mentioned. They are also on sale for like 3 bucks on amazon. I'm just not sure, with it saying its for gas engines, if its will give me a good idea of the diesel.

The forums are great, I agree, but there is one problem. Most of the people, when asked questions, answer to a level that if I had that understanding I would not be asking questions.....plus a few pictures help

Here it is on Amazon. If you look your truck was probably built in 96 anyways, even if the model is 97. I don't think there are any differences that you will notice between the two years.
