MtHick - SkySkiJason...

Those are the types of pics I'm looking for... trucks DOING stuff or IN stuff...

You throw some other items in there (like generic smiling family members, dogs not peeing on tires)... and you have yourself a marketing campaign that writes itself.

Keep 'em comin'.

Shortly after the Ex was on grease, we took a 4500 mile family trip from NY to CO and back. We've done many other shorter trips on grease. We don't fly any more and save a ton of cash just from that. With a wife and four children, six plane tix anywhere aren't cheap. Also, I do a lot of boyscout trips, where we have the Ex loaded with me plus one other adult plus six boys. It's fun to have a big-ass rowdy diesel truck/SUV that operates on low-cost fuel while supporting a "recycling" ethic - and it also teaches the next generation about conservation. Here's some pics from our CO trip.

The plane tickets, minivan rental and fuel costs for driving around while there would have been appx. $2800 or so. Since we saved a boatload on not spending much to get out there, we weren't cheap about making some cool stops along the way (visiting old friends, seeing cool places, etc.). Also, it freed up some cash to make some great family memories while we were out there... like staying at a really sweet condo, going whitewater rafting, horseback riding, etc. And we still came out money ahead!

This is good stuff...

For anyone who is interested, I've jumped the gun just a bit and changed the BFT home page.... this should illustrate the sort of stuff I'm after.

It's not permanent, it's just to give an idea...

Here's another favorite camping spot on a friends' private ski lake in Kansas. The hitch-mounted 'cargo rack' is carrying 60gals of clean/dry WVO. With about 30 usable gals in the under-truck main VO tank, this gives me well over a 1500mi range without towing a trailer or putting fuel in the cargo area. I use a 12v 'Whale Pump' (purchased from DFA) to transfer to truck. This little jewel easily runs off a cig lighter outlet and will pump brownie dough if you ask it to. It also self primes easily, so emptying ALL of the oil out of hoses helps eliminate risk of making a mess while pump is stored.

I LOVE carnival oil!!!! I will turn around if it means going miles out of my way to ask for their oil. This was 60+ gals of 'barely used' funnel cake (extremely clean!!) oil...

I picked up a couple of 1500gal poly tanks CHEAP on CL. If I use one for main VO tank and tow the 2nd one - I'll have about a 30,000 mile range. Lol!!!!!

The 'fleet' in our front yard.

Good pics guys! Keep'em comin'!!

(btw, I added a couple pics to my earlier post...)

In 2008 when many were scrambling to get rid of their diesel vehicle, I had a plan. I purchased my 2002 Excursion in August of 2008 and installed a V3 in September of the same year. My family has been able to do more of what we love to do, camping. Our tent camping days came to an end this year thanks to the biggest SUV on the planet! We purchased a 26' travel trailer and hit the road.
On Columbus weekend we took a trip the the High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks to take in the fall foliage. What we would have spent in fuel, we were able to pay for 3 days of full hookups at a very nice campground and a day at a fall festival. The V3 has payed for itself and will eventually pay for the travel trailer as well. Most importantly, my family has been able to spend more time together doing what we love to do without worrying about how we we will pay for the fuel to get there.
Included are some pictures of the weekend. We could not include the Excursion on top of the mountian but thought you would still enjoy the views.

Stayed at North Pole 100 acre woods. Nice campground. Hiked Owl's Head w/ the wife and kids, and went to the flaming leaves festival. blues, brews, and bbq. There was also a ski jump competition. A little time in Lake Placid to round out the wknd and had to head home(5hrs. with the TT).

Great pics, Bill!

Quick question - is that one with the trailer pre-B-codes or post? Also, how much does the TT weigh?

Just askin' 'cause the rear end looks pretty level... I am itching to re-do my suspension so we can do some of that TT-ing, too!

Also looks like the TT is pointed slightly nose high. Hopefully that's just an optical illusion.
