Default First culture award topic

The topic of the FIRST CULTURE AWARD will be in honor of BP and Exxon....

BFT will be SPONSORING "ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE OIL SPILLS". Send us pics of your WORST GREASE SPILLS or OIL ACCIDENTS in your filtering operations... we wanna see them... If you don't have a grease spill, then we can also honor just a BP "ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN" winner...

Post your pics and stories here...

It never occured to me to grab the camera when a huge spill occured. Usually i was trying to talk myself out of burning down the whole operation at that moment.

I was thinking the exact same thing Clay haha. I had a huge mess once when it overflowed out the top of my HWH. This was way back when I first started and only had the "filter" setup on the top of my HWH, instead of the line heading back to the holding tank... haha. Clay told me it would happen, and it did! I think I went through almost a whole case of wipe-alls.

Oh, the things that happen when you don't have your camera......Like sticking the fork of your tractor through the bottom 1/3 of a 275 gal tote. Oh yea, it was full 2"x5" gash.: I grabbed a ratchet strap and a handful of rags and tightened the strap around the tote with the wad of rags over the hole. I was so proud when I got it stopped about 2" above the gash. The worst part was there was no one around to blame. Ya know, maybe we should have a DUMB-ASS award so guys like me can win something also. Harlan

HA... I am always paranoid when on the forklift moving my totes around. That is one big spill, you win.

Ooph. That's ugly. My two big spills so far are just pumping-related for a short time (10-15 seconds max) while frantically trying to shut it off. Now that I know there's a "booby" prize, I won't be so hasty to remove all evidence...
