Default FOROTA Coming soon

Looks like Ford and Toyota are going to colabarate on a 25+mpg Hybrid truck. I betcha they shy away from Diesel.

Curious what they'll come up with together. I'll bet it's a $65k 1/2 ton pickup with a low tow rating.

your probably both right. did anyone see that NIssan and Cummins are planning a 2.4 diesel for the titan? i believe they were shooting for 2013, they should approve Bio and ditch the DPF, double the mileage.

It's a 2.8 cummins and it's been in a test Titan for a while. Same torque rating as the current gas V8 it's replacing, and they're aiming for over 30mpg with it. I think that is awesome personally.

I don't see the Fordota really working out myself...

BTW, the Liger is pretty much my favorite animal.

your right 2.8, my bad. thst true, i was looking at the HP and TQ. comparativly the HP is low, butthe TQ should make up for that. its half foreign venture but im still interested to see where it goes.

Not just overall HP or TQ either, gotta look at where that power comes on in the RPM curve too... HP is just a mathematical function of torque, so if your torque is lower in the RPM curve, then HP usually appears lower, but that means the power is coming on real early. I bet it will be a pretty nice truck, if they go through with it. It'd be real nice to get a standard trans with it too, but I don't see that happening. There is a guy on dieselbombers and maybe COMPD now that has a built 12V in a titan... pretty sweet rig.

thats what gasser guys have a hard time translating. i always ask them would you rather tow with diesel power at 5k rpm in your gasser, or at 2k rpm and get the same or better power, and better mileage? then it becomes clear, and clear as to why they only get 6-8 mpg pulling their 7k lb camper.

that 2.8 is the discontinued 2.8 VM Motori unit in my jeep crd. It was discontinued in 2009 and replaced with a 3.0 liter benz unit, cummins bought the rights too it and slapped a cummins tag on it( similar to when toyota bought the 350cubic inch v-8 off chevy for the seqonia, and tundra). And yes with tuning they are rocket ships, My crd will take the X up to about third gear, and then the 7.3s extra torque starts talking................greasy
