Default 08 Diesel Grand Cherokee any good?

I didn't know there was such a thing until today. I have yet to find much longevity information about these. Do you guys have any thoughts?

A guy I know has one and loves it. It rarely goes off road. diesel mileage on his is around 16 - 17 mpg. not good mileage in my eyes. Also the hill assist is slow to release and it seem that your brake is stuck until the assist releases. He said it releases about a second after letting off the brake.

Family loves the soft ride.

Thanks for the insight. 16-17 is definitely not going to cut it. I was hoping for low to mid 20's.

I really don't know. I would estimate 10-12mpg.
I baby it on d2 until it is up to temp, and then it's Hells Bells on SVO. I drive about 200 - 250 miles a week on the Ex . and my son drives about 150 a week.

I fill up 30 gallons SVO when I get close to 350 miles. So I can safely assume I run about 9mpg on SVO and I run it hard.

I think engine parts are hard to come by for these engines in the US. Production was very small. I looked at the diesel liberty and then the Grand Cherokee some years ago, but the parts availability scared me off. I've heard of people waiting months for parts for their Libertys. Also, as mentioned before fuel mileage was poor compared to what I would expect from a diesel vehicle that size.
