Default Blue exhaust smoke at start up. Opinions please.

Hi guys, shut truck down last night after a 4 hr drive on wvo. Normal 90 sec purge occurred before engine stopped. This morning the engine had to turn longer than usual to start and there was a burst of blue smoke on ignition. First low temp of fall (47F) occurred last night, but after 8 years on this v4 system this had never happened. In winters past it has started in sub 0 F, no problem. Opinions and advice please. Thank you.

Looks like something is wrong during your auto purge. I 'm sure you smelled SVO in the blue smoke. Purge during your next stop. Start it up again and see if you can smell D2.

Do you have the timer brain or the new one?

Thank you, Hawaian Diesel. I have the s4 system, bought it about 7 years ago. Not sure if it's the new system or not.
Maybe it is a simply glow plug issue considering the event was coralated with the first cool night of fall. I'll see how it does tomorrow, check glow plugs, and then check auto purge. Thanks for the advice and i'l let you know how it goes.

You may be right. Smell the smoke if you can. hopefully it's D2.

We don't have the problems that will creep up during winter.

Check your glow plug relay and ohm out your glow plugs, both are likely culprits of blue smoke at startup.
