Default Forget the Dana 60, check this out!

I've had multiple chances in the last 5 years to swap this dinky ttb50 out for a d60. But for some reason I never could. Seemed like so much money for something so.... Basic.
So after asking many forums and everybody saying its junk. Well I found some other forums, prerunner forums.
Turns out the d50 is a hot commodity.
Really the ONLY bad with the axle is the tire wear(a problem I've never really had)

People actually junk the d60 for a d50.

But this guy built the ultimate d50, something soon that will be on my truck, if I still have it....
My best friend(fabricator) is wanting to give this a whirl.

The whole thread is a good read, amazing build and some good info suspension wise.
My life time dream for my truck was a pre runner set up(the reason a d60 never appealed to me)
Either way its one but built axle!

OMFG, that is a work of art. Hard core truck porn art - at its very best. I am infatuated with innovation and fabrication at this level. Thank you for sharing!!!

Some of y'all have met my friend Jim Jam. I've gotten to help him on his (equally?) extreme project 'Swagger'. Although an xtra-cab Super Duty that lays body (not frame - BODY) is not really my style - getting to help cut the frame in 1/2, build a new rear section with a 6-link and Watts bar suspension on bags with 13" of travel is right up my alley. This truck will (some day, lol) go from a 3/5 drop at max ride height - like a typical 'lowered' SD - to the frame laying hard on the pavement. And it will still be able to haul a GN or 5ver while making +500HP.

Of course he bought a 'beater' OBS to drive while he finishes Swagger - and it 'needed' a D60, ZF5 swap, etc, etc, etc........... Yes, he is ATE UP with PMS (Powerstroke Mod Syndrome). Luckily, I can just quit anytime I want!!!

thats pretty amazing, i wish i had the skills to just fab stuff up from scratch like that. and it's always nice to see a chevy having to borrow some ford parts, very uncommon.

Yeah, I've read that many of times- The old TTB is a damn rugged hybrid IFS- Just horrible tire wear. I remember doing things in my 92 bronco that should have by all accounts sheared that front end out from under it. Ironically enough, this was during my time in SoCal.

Jim-Jam? Details?
