Default E Fuel Fittings

Got in some of the parts for my efuel conversion. First part for me is getting the fittings to attach to the stock Banjo bolt for a diesel fuel inlet. I have several options. The photo shows a straight #6 Jic and a 90 degree #6 jic. This is for efuel with diesel only.

For veggie I have a fitting on the way that has a 3/8 nptf port to screw a check valve in!!!

Fass Fuel Pressure Regulators are here. Bosch Super Duty Pumps on the way.

How are you coming on this project? I'll be interested in getting the first one to roll out.

More fittings arrived today. Just got conformation of Bosch pump shipping. Fass fuel pressure regulators are here.

I will convert my truck first so I have photos. Getting controller for fuel pump so it is just like super dutys...when engine off key on pump only runs for 30 seconds then shuts off.

20 filter heads arrived today. Still wondering if I should have 100 dollar prefilter or 10 dollar prescreen.

Believe me I want to get this done. I bought a truck just to develope this.

Dave

Good work Dave!!! Those fittings are awesome.

I have the parts list for the V3/V4 'Diesel Check Valve Relocation Kit' as well. The plan is to install (and photograph) the prototype on the engine going in my dually.

Bring on the veggiegarage.com ingenuity!!!!

Btw, what does the first production V3/V4 debris shield look like??

Dave,
You likely have this thought out, but figured I would let you know a way I went. For the Bosch SD fuel pump, the "out" has an extension bit that threads in. Well the threads in the pump are 10mmx1.0, so this fitting threads right into the pump instead of the goofy 5/16th fuel tube thing.

Then I mated this piece to the above fitting,

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-220701-b

and viola, a 3/8th's hose barb on the out of the SD pump. Its shorter and cleaner (IMO) than the extension piece and 5/16ths stuff. And nice black finish, looks good.

Krause..Thank you. Attention to this type of detail is what I want in my kit.

Look forward to getting my pumps so I can verify the same threads. I ordered in and returned a few different after market brands of SD pumps and did not see 10 mm threads. But none were the Bosch pumps I have coming now.

I want this to be pre assembled on a plate with pump..regulator...pre filter and post filter.

Thanks for the help...Dave

Dave, here is a pic of how the bosch pump should come. Mine was straight out of a Ford box with the fancy mounting bracket. Note the extension piece on the right side of the pump.

And the second picture is the pump in its final mounting location with the adapter (blue in this case) and hose barb I linked in previous post. Again looks much better IMO.

Finally, for the 'built in' side of the Bosch pump which does not have a threaded extension and thus cant be modified, take a look at these links. Another diesel enthusiasts put me on the path to these (thanks!), running a super duty pump on the diesel side isnt as easy as it seems when the original fuel lines dont have the hardware there.

http://www.dormanproducts.com/p-27516-800-119.aspx

You could run those ^ on both ends, but I dont like the extension piece, and would rather do the fittings I mentioned before for the 'out'. But, the 'in' cant have that done, so hopefully the dorman links can sort out that side.

If this is confusing, it should be clear when the pump comes in. Essentially one side you can unscrew the tube, the other side you cant, hence the dorman fittings.

My pumps are bare without the insulated mount I think. One of the reasons I can get them at a good price. Way more than the $30.00 pumps though. Retail is around $160 or so. Same bosch part number as the factory bosch pumps in the insulation. Dave
