Default Oberdorfer 991-32 12dc pumps

Anyone use one of these for filtering into your tank? I have an alternate filtered oil when my friend can't use the oil fast enough. Just wanted a way to filter out anything that would transfer into my filtered oil.

Yeah, I've had one for years. I got it off ebay for $100 i think. Its bulletproof. Doesn't pump very fast (4gpm or so) but you can empty hundreds of gals on a single battery charge. We use it to transfer oil on long trips and Pez uses it to empty barrels at his restaurant.

Thanks! didn't know if anyone used one. Do you know if I can push oil through a filter or two filters inline?

It should pump oil though a filter just fine.

Better have a hose that can handle the pressure if the filter stops up.

A relief valve is advised.

The cheaper ones don't have a regulator in them. I have 3 oberdorfers and non have the regulator/bypass feature. It would be nice to have as I pop the breaker on my big pump if I let the trigger off.

When the oil is gnarley, I pump through an old reusable jet engine fuel filter that has a built in bypass if the filter mesh gets clogged.

Hard pipe the pickup side so you can set it on top of a barrel and pump to within 4" of the bottom.

This is the dc model. Is this an issue too?

If the valve is closed or a plugged line, it just doesn't spin on my DC model. probably not too good for the motor. I don't think they have a thermal overload built in.

Sorry for so many questions, but could you use the gear pump on a ac motor if the dc craps out? Which ac motor would be a good replacement?

I would imagine? The dc model I haven't had apart so I'm not sure what the shaft connection is. I have a pedestal style, a carbonator style and the dc style.

I don't think you'll need to worry about it, I have pumped 1000s of gals with it. It will run dry forever and they are simple to repair, 2 gears and a seal and the gears don't wear out. The smaller ones just aren't that fast or I think more folks would use them.
