New Best friend- Pump
Over the last couple months I've had to make 1500 mile round trips every other week and it quickly became apparent that my robust, but cute Whale pump wasn't cutting the mustard for moving a lot of oil. Started looking around and discovered Harbor Freight has just released this- 1 inch Water Pump. What a beast! HF even has non-collapsable suction hoses for $27 for 20ft. I timed it last night and was able to move 50 gallons of oil in 4 minutes!!. Granted this was good oil at 70f. Still, in all my years collecting I do believe that to be a record. Using some coupons, and for a total investment of $200, might be one of the best things I ever bought. Also purchased a 2 year no questions asked extended warranty which was I think 35. Cheers!

That looks like a awsome option for transfering clean oil on long trips.
When traveling, every minute counts.

I ran a Honda 4-cycle 1hp 1" water pump for years. That thing has pumped 10's of 1000's of gallons of oil. I mounted a goldenrod filter on the outlet and used 10mic, 80mesh or no filter depending on what I was pumping (collection, transfer or filtering).
If you can get non ethanol-contaminated fuel, I highly recommend you use it.

I know the Honda's aren't cheap. For the price, if I can get 5's of 1,000's of gallons I'll be ecstatic. And yep, we have a local station that sells Non-Ethanol Gas.

I bought my Honda pump in '07 and it was the most expensive thing in my veggie arsenal at the time. I took it out and collected 400gals of oil the first day and never thought about the price again!! But, I've replaced the carb a few times and it needs another one now... (Couldn't get non-ethanol gas in many parts of the country when I was traveling...). I've also replaced the rubber gasket and check-valve thingy lots of times (they last about a year or so). Make sure you can get these parts for the Chinese pump and keep spares on the shelf.
I also have a HF 2" water pump ($189) that we use for high-volume oil moving and collection. I did have to replace the seal between pump and engine on this pump (it dumped water into crankcase when using pump to irrigate corn crop by the creek last year).
