I decided to go visit some friends and get some oil in CO. I am sooooo glad I did! It was an awesome road trip thru TX panhandle, across upper NM and into the Rockies. I think this is prolly my favorite part of the world - year round - so any excuse to visit is a good one!!

It was snowing in TX when I left - an ugly wet, slushy snow that turned into rain and melted the 3-4" of snow in about the same amount of time it took to accumulate. MISERABLE weather!!!

VO temps nice and toasty though!

This is the view from my friends' house. These peaks are over 14k ft.

I HAVE to soak in hot springs every chance I get as well... 105* water and the air was about 25* - freakin' PERFECT!!!!!!

Here's my current redneck fuel station for the X:

Somewhere in CO:

This was at the hotel before I left. It rained at least 3" overnite and this accumulation was only an hour after it turned to snow (pic taken 6AM). There was 3-4" of the white stuff before it turned back to rain at noon. read: COOOOLD and WET!! By comparison, I was at 8k ft at 20* and NOT cold (in just a long sleeve teeshirt ) as long as I was in the sun.

I still need 30-40gals of oil to make it home - so I'm looking for new friends along I-40, I-24 or not too far off these roads?? I hope I'm headed home this weekend and will go to pick up my 'lil camper that has been stranded near Clarkesville, TN all summer, then head south thru Nashville to Chattanooga and finally backroads to my house in N.GA.

Right! I grew up in central FL and I don't miss that climate AT ALL. I dig the predictability (HOT all day with 0.01" of rain from a thunderstorm in the afternoon - just to bring the Rh from 85% on up to 100% during the hottest part of the day), but I can't stand leaving the AC'ed house before the sun comes up and having to wipe the sweat off my brow before I even get to the truck every AM.

Now, that crap in the last picture is the opposite end of miserable. High Rh and LOW temps are BRUTAL. I'm not sure which I like least, but its really hard to find the perfect balance. Honestly, I think where I live is as good as it gets! We have average highs in the summer in the high 80's and lows in the 50's and 60's. Winter lows get pretty cold - single digits on occasion - but its usually SUNNY, so highs are often into the 50's. We get rain in the form of cold fronts and occasionally tropical systems, so its seldom cloudy/overcast for more than a couple days at a time. The desert is too dry and the NW and NE too gloomy. The middle of the country is HOT and humid in the summer and bitter COLD in the winter and there is always a chance a tornado will destroy everything you have, even if ya do survive the 'normal' weather...

Now, if only I could figure out how to make a living where I live!!!

Thanks for the bump!

Also i'll have some animal parts on the smoker so if you hang around untill its done your welcome to eat...otherwise you just get the pleasure (see teaser) of smelling the wonderfull aroma of Hickory smoke combined with the juices of a butter injected beer butt chicken. It will be ready probably in the afternoon.

Yes, I'm not a fan of nasty lite - I know for a fact I drank 2 lifetimes worth in college, that may be a contributing factor... Its funny, I met up with some 7.3 guys at an FTE GTG a couple weeks ago and one guy was saying how much he likes Yuengling and brought some of his stash (from up north ) to share. I swear it tasted just like Nat Lite!

I'm down with the sodomized and smoked chicken!! Looks like I'll be in no particular hurry to get home, but my next (planned) stop is Clarkesville, TN - so prolly not staying too late.
