Getting Started in Chicagoland

Hey all!

I'm determined to make 2012 the year I reduce dino fuels from my diet. Before I make the leap I'd like to get a clear picture of exactly what my options are in my area.

Are there any members out there in the Chicagoland area? Any collectors? Anyone selling clean oil?

I have not yet approached any restaurants myself, but that is next on my agenda.

I've done a lot of research on the subject and am completely sold on the concept. But I admit I'm still a newb and appreciate any insights you can offer.

From searching the archives I've seen a few members who have posted that are in the area, so I know you're out there!

In general where do you all get your oil? Do most collect from restaurants? This was my assumption coming in. Is it common to pay? Are there businesses that collect and clean oil to resell?

Are restaurants generally responsive to requests for their waste oil?

Good evening, I am out in the burbs and have a great supplier. It was uncomfortable at first asking business owners for their oil. Then after a few no's I became more comfortable asking for the oil and found this supplier who has help me out for the last few years. ps If you need some oil until you get a source contact me.
