The extra fitting is probably your tank vent. The tank I bought in 5/10 has a ping pong ball in it acting as a one way valve.(still had to extend it to the o.e.m. fill pipe to avoid drips)

2002 7.3 So what is the trick for getting a good grip on this fuel line to install check valves? Do you have to remove the downpipe? Is there a better tool than an 9/16 standard wrench.
