$2K is cheap for all the space I heat. $300-500/Month is not that uncommon up here for heating older homes with LP or Natural gas. This is likely why corn stoves and pellet stoves are so common...

Not to mention the volume of air it is going to take to move oil when the tote is down to 50 gallons.

Billman is correct, a clearwater pump on the discharge valve is a $50 fix.
