Perhaps Jason could chime in. There is probably a 7.3 trick that he knows for the back bolt. I know on the 6.0s that Snap On makes a special tool that I really wish I bought prior to.

When I did my 6.0 I did the following for head/block prep but the same would apply to your 7.3:

Scrape old gasket material off as best as possible...
